Bethany College Launches National Search for 16th President

LINDSBORG, KAN., SEP. 13, 2024 — The Bethany College Board of Directors is pleased to announce the official launch of a nationwide search for the 16th president of Bethany College. This critical leadership role presents an exciting opportunity for an accomplished individual to shape the future of one of Kansas' leading liberal arts institutions.


Bethany College, founded in 1881, is deeply rooted in its commitment to the liberal arts and its affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Known for its vibrant music, arts, and athletics programs, Bethany continues to be a beacon of academic excellence, serving a diverse and engaged student body.


Located in the heart of the charming town of Lindsborg, Kansas—often referred to as "Little Sweden"—Bethany College benefits from the town's rich Swedish cultural heritage, thriving artistic community, and warm, welcoming spirit. The Presidential Search Committee comprises representatives from the Bethany College Board of Directors, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Lindsborg community. The committee will follow the principles of transparency, confidentiality, and collaboration to ensure a thorough and thoughtful process. The goal is to identify a leader who will continue to enhance the college's reputation for academic rigor, cultural enrichment, and community engagement.

Bethany College is proud to announce the return of sideline cheer, launching with the 2025–26 academic year. Leading the program is newly appointed head coach Patricia Smith, an experienced educator and cheer coach. Sideline cheer will return to Bethany’s home football and basketball games.

Bethany College is pleased to announce the appointment of Audrey Saxton as the new Assistant Professor of English. Saxton earned both her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in English from Penn State University, where she taught courses in writing and composition, world literature, and pre-1800 literature.

Bethany College is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Case as the new Assistant Professor of Religion. Case earned her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 in Ancient Mediterranean Religions with a graduate portfolio in Women's and Gender Studies.
