Emily Rude has taught at Bethany College since the Fall of 2018. Rude teaches several subjects that begin with the letter ‘E’, including environmental science, ecology, evolution, and elementals of anatomy & physiology. This is probably pure coincidence. She also enjoys teaching courses in Bethany College’s Core Curriculum.
Rude studied soil science and organic agriculture at Washington State University, and earned her master of science degree in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. Rude pins responsibility for her move to Kansas squarely on The Land Institute, especially the editor of their magazine, with whom she lives in a house made of mud, straw, and horse manure.
Rude enjoys horticulture, aquaculture, vermiculture, formiculture, and culture in general. She is also very fond of cats.
