AI at Bethany College
Bethany College’s AI initiative represents a mission-aligned response to the ever-changing educational landscape. Our initiative is grounded in these three key priorities:
- Preparing students for an AI-transformed workforce
- Operational excellence through AI integration
- Responsible leadership in AI application

Liberal Arts and AI
At Bethany College, we view artificial intelligence (AI) as an essential tool to enhance our liberal arts mission, where students learn to view the world through multiple disciplinary lenses. The Bethany College community embraces AI with both curiosity and critical awareness of its ethical implications. By integrating AI across our curriculum while remaining grounded in our Lutheran heritage of free and honest inquiry, we prioritize the holistic educational approach to prepare students to navigate technological change with integrity, technical fluency, and human wisdom.
Creative Students
We envision graduates known for their creative adaptability in an AI-driven workforce - professionals who can recognize transformative applications of AI. By integrating AI curriculum with our liberal arts foundation, our students will view AI not as a replacement for human creativity but as an amplifier of inspiration, problem solving, and critical thinking. Through hands-on experience with emerging technologies, Bethany graduates will enter their fields prepared to face challenges hitherto unseen.
Practical Application
We imagine Bethany College as a hub where AI literacy helps meet community needs. Where students learn application of new technologies to address challenges facing our communities. Through integration of community-based projects into our AI curriculum, we will demonstrate how a small, rural, faith-based institution can lead technological innovation that serves the common good. With practical application of AI, Bethany students not only develop marketable skills, but also fulfill our Lutheran commitment to serve our neighbors through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
