Dr. Chi’s teaching and research focus on world literature, postcolonial literature, film studies, and the intersections of the sciences and the humanities. She also teaches courses on Harry Potter and popular culture as gateways to critical inquiry. Her first book, Madness, Psychiatry, and Empire in Postcolonial Literature, was recently published with Palgrave Macmillan. She is currently working on her second book, The Colony and the City.
Her teaching is guided by Frederick Douglass’s conviction that:
“Education means emancipation. It means light and liberty. It means the uplifting of the soul of man into the glorious light of truth, the light by which men can only be made free.”
Outside the classroom, Dr. Chi is a dedicated churchgoer, decolonial thinker, bubble-tea enthusiast, and avid science fiction fan.
