2026 Messiah Festival

In the winter of 1881, the Bethany Oratorio Society gathered in the Swensson parsonage to learn the words and music of Handel’s Messiah. Together they created something none of them could have created alone. Their music helped build a young school and began a tradition that has endured for more than a century.

In 2027, we return to that beginning to share in that spirit. HOME: A Place in the Song invites audiences to encounter the story of Bethany College and its rich traditions anew. Through Handel, Bach, and the visual arts—and perhaps theatre, poetry, worship, conversation, and community celebration—we will explore what “home” means.
