THE BETHANY COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC PRESENTS THE OPERA IN A BOX TOUR

LINDSBORG, KAN. Nov. 4, 2022 – Bethany College students in this semester's Opera Scenes course toured Central Kansas recently, performing for Salina Central, Smoky Valley, Hays, and Russell High Schools. They are returning home to Pearson Chapel on Nov. 10 at 7:30 pm for a final performance in Pearson Chapel on the Bethany College campus. This event is free and open to the public.

 

The production, titled Opera in a Box, is a series of songs from famous operas linked together with funny and informative dialogue. Selections include Carmen, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, The Mikado, The Magic Flute, Cinderella, and The Phantom of the Opera.

Leslie Mangrum, Assistant Professor of Music says, “This course exposes students and audiences to opera in a fun and collaborative way.”

Bethany College is proud to announce the return of sideline cheer, launching with the 2025–26 academic year. Leading the program is newly appointed head coach Patricia Smith, an experienced educator and cheer coach. Sideline cheer will return to Bethany’s home football and basketball games.
